TECHNOLOGY

Animal Alternative Technologies is a recently founded biotechnology B2B start-up based in the University of Cambridge. We are engineering a complete, scalable Cultured Meat production system, including enabling technologies, hardware, software and specialist processes, to democratize access to sustainable food by creating a Renaissance- the future of animal farms.

As one of the world's 1st Cultured Meat companies with a focus on software and analytics, we have been creating pioneering tools and techniques to develop and optimize Cultured Meat bioprocesses to make it viable at the largest scales.

CULTURED MEAT

To replace animal farming

Animal farming is responsible for over 25% of earth’s ice-free land use, health epidemics like swine flu, increasing antibiotic resistance, and greater greenhouse gas emissions than the whole transportation sector. It is also the main source of water pollution. Global meat consumption needs to fall by 80% to keep global warming under 2°C by 2050. This represents a considerable threat as demand for meat is expected to double during this time.

Cultured meat, also known as cell-based meat, clean meat or in-vitro meat, could be a more efficient, sustainable, ethical and safe alternative to using animals for meat production. However, currently a large scale cultured meat production process does not exist. Such a process must be sustainabile as well as be cost efficient to make cultured meat a commercial reality, and it requires the use of technology and knowledge that currenlty don't exist. We are here to develop the required technologies of tomorrow and carry out groundbreaking research to help engineer the food of the future, which is better for us, for the animals, and for our planet. We aim to democratize access to sustainable food and address the most pressing global enviromental challenges by building a complete ecosystem for Cultured Meat production and bring about the Renaissance of meat.
